Meet the Trustees

As Trustees, it is our job to ensure that the CWBR Trust is managed and administered effectively on behalf of all plan members. It is an obligation that we take very seriously.

  • Larry Nentwig

    Larry Nentwig, Chair
    Retired CFO, Canadian International Grains Institute

    An accountant by training, Larry has 35 years of operational and financial experience. During this period, he held various senior financial roles at the CWB and the Canadian International Grains Institute. Larry was asked to serve because of his strong business acumen—and intimate knowledge of the CWB and its former employees.

  • Sym Gill

    Sym Gill, Trustee
    Retired Director, CAW

    Now retired, Sym was Director of Pension and Benefits for the CAW from 1990 to 2011. He also spent many years as a Trustee for both the Auto Sector Retiree Trust (asrTrust), which provides health and dental benefits to the retired employees of GM and Chrysler in Canada, and the Canada-Wide Industrial Pension Plan (CWIPP). In addition, Sym has been a member of the Committee on Professional Conduct of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries.

  • David Pennycook

    David Pennycook, Trustee
    Former Executive Vice Chairman, Fiera Capital

    David is Former Executive Vice Chairman of Fiera Capital – one of Canada’s leading investment managers – with more than $150 billion in assets under management. David graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1976 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours). In 2013, he received the professional ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and, more recently in 2023, he received the Advanced Trustee Management Standards (ATMS) Certificate of Achievement.

  • Bob Romphf

    Bob Romphf, Trustee
    Retired Labour Relations Officer, Manitoba Nurses Union

    Bob has been involved with employee benefits for over 30 years, and is a retired Labour Relations Officer for the Manitoba Nurses Union. He is active on a number of Boards, including as Chair of the Healthcare Employees’ Benefits Plans (HEBP Manitoba), and as a Trustee on the Winnipeg Civic Employees’ Benefits Plan (WCEBP). He is also a former Trustee on the Healthcare Employees' Pension Plan (HEPP).

  • Craig Mitchell

    Craig Mitchell, Secretary of the Board
    Senior Director, Eckler Ltd.

    With more than 30 years’ experience, Craig brings his employee benefits expertise to the Trust, including benefits strategy, design and management, and plan governance – with specific expertise in the multi-employer trust sector. Through his career he’s provided advice on all aspects of benefits plan management, and has worked with a broad spectrum of clients across multiple industries.
